What is Speed the Light?
Speed the Light is a student-initiated, volunteer-based, charitable organization that focuses on providing transportation, equipment, and resources to missionaries all around the world. Their goal is to speed the light of the gospel to a world in darkness. Throughout the 75 years following their conception, they have reached out to over 180 countries and have raised over $300 billion for their missionaries. No matter what kind of transportation – whether it be by car, bus, tractor, plane, boat, horse, or wheelbarrow – Speed the Light is determined to expand the reach of missionaries and pastors so that every person has a chance to hear about Jesus.
We’ve loved partnering with STL to give to missionaries around the world, and this year, we have the honor and privilege of giving to someone that we know and love! The Taratinos are a family currently serving as missionaries in Marseilles, France. Nolan grew up right here in Fort Myers, attending and serving at First Assembly of God. He was heavily involved as a student, and it was on one of the youth missions trips that he caught a passion for missions in Europe. Now, he and his family have been working for 16 years to spread the gospel throughout Europe and help young people realize the calling God has on their lives. However, to reach the people of France, they will need a new vehicle, and we want to help them get one! We’re calling this initiative “Build a Car”, because just like how every part of a car is important in its structure and operation, every dollar and cent is important in helping us reach our goal of providing them with a new van. Will you help give to the Tarantinos? Donations can be brought in to our office or given to our weekly offerings during Wednesday night services and Sunday morning classes.
